COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Group Coaching membership is billed monthly and is available at three frequencies: 1 session per week at £95/month, 2 sessions per week at £190/month, and 3 sessions per week at £285/month. Membership is billed on the 1st of each month. If your child joins after the 1st, your first payment is pro-rated to cover only the remaining days of that month, and all future payments align to the 1st.

We don’t offer a trial period for Group Coaching, but we do offer a full 30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied with your child’s experience within the first 30 days, we’ll refund your membership in fullno , questions asked. We’re confident in what we do, and we want you to feel the same way.

Before joining every new athlete completes a mandatory 90-minute 1-1 Profiling Session (£150 one-off fee). This session serves 3 important purposes. 1) It gives us baseline data on your child, including growth metrics, maturity status, power, strength, and endurance measures, that we use to track and demonstrate progress over time. 2) It allows us to accurately place your child at the correct entry point in our Movement Mastery Curriculum, ensuring sessions are challenging enough to engage them without being overwhelming. 3) It takes your child through a full session from start to finish so they’re already familiar with the format, the environment, and the coaches before they join a group, meaning they hit the ground running rather than spending weeks settling in.

The 90-minute Profiling Session produces an in-depth individualised report covering: height, weight, biological age, predicted adult height, current percentage of predicted adult height, maturity status (pre, circa, or post growth spurt), maturity category (early, on time, or late maturer), growth-related injury risk, power (horizontal jump, vertical jump, reactive strength), strength (isometric mid thigh pull), and endurance (anterior/lateral trunk). This report becomes your child’s baseline and is used for ongoing comparison as they progress through the programme.

Each Group Coaching session is 60 minutes. We cap sessions at a maximum of 10 athletes, with 2 coaches always present, giving a coach-to-athlete ratio of no more than 1:5. This ensures every athlete receives meaningful individual attention, not just those who are the most advanced or confident.

This is something we take seriously. Our maximum ratio of 1 coach to 5 athletes, with 2 coaches in every session, means there is always a coach available to support, correct, and encourage every athlete in the room. Our programme is also level-based rather than age-based, which means your child is always working at the right level of challenge for them. Whether your child is brand new to athletic training or a seasoned competitor, they receive the same quality of coaching attention.

You have the flexibility to do either. If you prefer the routine of the same day and time each week, we can set up a recurring bulk booking that holds your regular spot without you having to do anything week to week, and you can still cancel or reschedule individual sessions without losing your standing reservation. If you’d prefer more flexibility, you can simply book week to week and attend whichever available session suits you. Both options are available within the same membership.

Our flexible booking system means you can reschedule a cancelled session to another available slot within the same calendar month. However, session credits are tied to your monthly billing cycle and do not carry over to the following month, so we’d always encourage you to rebook within the month rather than let a session lapse. If you have a standing recurring booking, cancelling one session doesn’t affect your future reservations; your regular slot remains held automatically.

Our programme is designed for youth athletes aged 10–18. We regularly work with athletes competing in football, rugby, hockey, netball, and athletics, among others. Rather than sport-specific drills, we focus on the fundamental athletic qualities: speed, strength, power, coordination, mobility and movement competency — that underpin performance across all sports. This makes our programme equally valuable whether your child plays one sport or several.

The Athlete Academy was founded by Rob Anderson, who holds an MSc, BSc (Hons), and ASCC accreditation, and was named UKSCA Youth Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year 2024. All sessions are delivered by our coaching team qualified to Degree level, trained in the same methodology and standards.
