COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
We currently offer two online programmes: the Movement Mastery Phase and the Progressive Strength Phase. Movement Mastery is the entry point — a 12-month programme structured into 12 blocks of 4 weeks each, focused on building a complete athletic foundation through fundamental movement, injury resilience, and habit formation. Progressive Strength builds on that foundation with a focus on strength and power development, and follows the same 12-block, 48-week structure. Both programmes are delivered through the Teambuildr training platform.
Both the Movement Mastery Phase and the Progressive Strength Phase are priced at £59.99 per month on a recurring monthly subscription, processed securely via Stripe. Both programmes include a 14-day free trial, you can cancel within the trial period at no cost if you decide the programme isn’t right for your child.
When you sign up for either online programme, your first 14 days are completely free. If you’re not satisfied with the programme for any reason, you can cancel within that period and you won’t be charged anything. No questions asked. If you’re happy to continue after the trial, your subscription simply rolls into the monthly payment of £59.99.
Both programmes are delivered through the Teambuildr app, which your child accesses on their phone or device. Each programme is structured into 12 blocks of 4 weeks, giving a clear and progressive 48-week journey with defined stages of development. Every session includes high-definition demonstration videos for every exercise, ensuring correct form and technique regardless of whether a coach is physically present. The Movement Mastery programme includes 96 individual training sessions and 192 HD demonstration videos across the full 48 weeks.
It’s not fully self-guided — direct coach feedback is built into the programme. Athletes and parents can submit videos of their child performing movements and receive personalised feedback from our coaching team to ensure technique is correct and progress is on track. This is what separates our online programmes from a generic training app.
Yes, ideally gym access is required for both the Movement Mastery and Progressive Strength programmes. However, the Movement Mastery program does offer simple home based alternatives for many movements. The sessions are designed around gym-based equipment, so a local gym membership or access to a well-equipped home gym facility is needed to complete the training as prescribed.
Both programmes were designed by Rob Anderson, founder of The Athlete Academy, 2024 UKSCA Youth Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, and an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCC) with over 20 years of experience developing youth athletes across schools, clubs, and academies. The online programmes follow the same methodology used in our in-person coaching at Sighthill, Edinburgh.
Our online programmes are designed for youth athletes aged 10–18 across all sports. We have supported athletes competing in football, rugby, hockey, netball, athletics, and more. The programmes focus on the fundamental athletic qualities that underpin performance across all sports rather than sport-specific drills.
No, the Progressive Strength Phase is designed to build directly on the movement foundation established in the Movement Mastery Phase. Athletes must complete Movement Mastery before progressing to the Progressive Strength programme. This ensures they have the technical base and movement quality needed to train safely and effectively at a higher intensity.
The key differences are expertise, structure, and accountability. Our programmes are built by a UKSCA award-winning coach with over 15 years of youth athletic development experience, not generated by an algorithm. The training follows a proven, progressive 12-month curriculum rather than random workouts. And crucially, your child has access to real coach feedback throughout, meaning technique is monitored and corrected just as it would be in person.
